BIOGRAPHY Bakhtiyar Vahabzade is a poet whom belong special deserts in strengthening the patriotism and patriotic spirit in the Azerbaijanian literature, and poetry, in particular. His harmonious philosophical and lyrical poems reflecting the real human lives, monographs and other works dedicated to the important issues of the Azeri literature have gained a great popularity in Azerbaijan. B. Vahabzade was born on August 16, 1925 in Sheki. In 1934 his family moved to Baku, where he continued his education. Bakhtiyar’s interest to poetry has revealed from his early youth. Already in 1945 B. Vahabzade became a member of the Azerbaijan Writers Union. In 1949 he published his first book of poems named "My Friends". Later B. Vahabzade’s poems have been translated and published in many countries, - in the former USSR republics, Turkey, Iran, Germany and others. B. Vahabzade has also made a big work in the field of Azerbaijan literature, having written a number of valuable works on the Azeri folklore, poets and writers of Azerbaijan. For his outstanding deserts before the Azerbaijanian literature B. Vahabzade has been repeatedly awarded by various awards. In 1980 he has been elected a member of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences and in 1984 he was awarded the highest title "the people’s writer of Azerbaijan". In 1994 in Ankara, Turkey, B. Vahabzade received the award for his "Service to the literature of the Turkic-speaking world". B. Vahabzade is also a prominent public figure in Azerbaijan, a member of the Parliament for many years.
