Stone, how did it come to be:
Who is certain of his view?
Ask of stone how, openly:
Only silence answers you.
Neither tongue nor soul has stone -
But when dawning breath of man
Touched it, then and then alone
The history of both began.
Close associations so
Often link up stone with man,
That stone itself may often grow
Into a statue of a man.
